Customers can open foreign currency account of USD, HKD, JPY, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD and SGD at SRCB. Based on the nature of the account opening customer, it can be classified into foreign-invested enterprise FX account and Chinese-invested enterprise FX account. Based on the actual use of the foreign currency, it can be classified into Current Item FX account and Capital Item FX account.
Current Items FX account
This refers to the foreign currency account which customers open with the bank for deposit, transfer and settlement. Customers here refer to enterprise/public institution legal persons and other type of organizations that have the license to engage in foreign business, or have FX income under current account.
Applicable situations
For enterprise/public institutions that have FX receipt and payment of current items, or other types of domestic organizations that can legally retain FX of current items as approved by SAFE.
Capital Items FX account
This refers to the foreign currency account for FX receipt and payment of capital items in the Balance of Payment Presentation.
Applicable situations
For foreign investors setting up foreign-funded enterprises in China, and other types of domestic organizations that owing foreign currency denominated debt to offshore non-residents.
