Recently, MSCI, the international authoritative index institution, has announced the latest ESG rating results, with Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank included for the first time. The bank was rated A level , which is the highest among domestically listed banks.
MSCI, established by Morgan Stanley Capital International,Inc., annually assessing companies included in its indices on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) . The MSCI ESG ratings are highly respected for their comprehensive coverage, independence, consistency, and transparency, and have become an important basis for investment decisions by major financial institutions worldwide.
The latest MSCI ESG rating results show that among nearly 200 domestic and foreign banks, Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank stands out in the "financial accessibility" category and is rated as a "leader in the industry", while also performing well in areas such as "corporate governance," "corporate behavior," "financial product safety," "human capital development," and "financial impact on the environment." After being awarded A level in the WIND ESG rating last time, Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank has become one of the few domestic banks with "double A" in MSCI ESG and WIND ESG ratings. This reflects the significant recognition from the capital market for the bank's prudent operations, standardized management, service to the real economy, support for employee growth, and commitment to green finance since its listing in August 2021.
