On January 22, 2026, Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank (SHRCB) and the New Development Bank (NDB) held a signing ceremony for the green on-lending project cooperation.

As SHRCB's first green on-lending collaboration with an international multilateral development bank, the project centers on "the Greener Shanghai Project". NDB will provide a five-year RMB-denominated fund equivalent to USD 100 million, specifically allocated to support three critical green sectors: clean energy, environmental protection, and green digital infrastructure. This represents a pioneering practice in cross-border green finance for SHRCB.

SHRCB has long been committed to exploring green finance and has established a comprehensive service system covering five core business areas: green credit, green bonds, green services, green wealth management, and green leasing, empowering the green transformation of the real economy in all aspects. By the end of June 2025, the bank's green financial assets exceeded RMB 100 billion. It has also launched several innovative green financial products, including China’s first Yangtze River Delta daily temperature index deposit product and Shanghai’s first water intake rights pledge loan. SHRCB holds AA for both MSCI ESG rating and WIND ESG rating, ranking among the top domestically and internationally.

Looking ahead, SHRCB will remain devoted to China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, strengthening the precise synergy between international resources and local engagement. In the process of serving the ecological and green integration of the Yangtze River Delta and supporting Shanghai's advancement as a global green finance hub, SHRCB will steadfastly fulfill its mission as a state-owned financial institution and collaborate closely with partners to build a shared future of green development jointly .
